(25) *Kobitay Chandogya Upanishad* (Part 4, Chapter 2)

॥ चतुर्थोऽध्यायः ॥

तदु ह जानश्रुतिः पौत्रायणः षट्शतानि गवां निष्कमश्वतरीरथं तदादाय प्रतिचक्रमे तँ हाभ्युवाद ॥ १ ॥
रैक्वेमानि षट्शतानि गवामयं निष्कोऽयमश्वतरीरथोऽनु म एतां भगवो देवताँशाधि यां देवतामुपास्स इति ॥ २ ॥
तमु ह परः प्रत्युवाचाह हारेत्वा शूद्र तवैव सह गोभिरस्त्विति तदु ह पुनरेव जानश्रुतिः पौत्रायणः सहस्रं गवां निष्कमश्वतरीरथं दुहितरं तदादाय प्रतिचक्रमे ॥ ३ ॥
तँ हाभ्युवाद रैक्वेदँ सहस्रं गवामयं निष्कोऽयमश्वतरीरथ इयं जायायं ग्रामो यस्मिन्नास्सेऽन्वेव मा भगवः शाधीति ॥ ४ ॥
तस्या ह मुखमुपोद्गृह्णन्नुवाचाजहारेमाः शूद्रानेनैव मुखेनालापयिष्यथा इति ते हैते रैक्वपर्णा नाम महावृषेषु यत्रास्मा उवास स तस्मै होवाच ॥ ५ ॥

দাস খুঁজিয়া আনিয়াছে তাঁরে একথা শুনিয়া,
ছয়শত গাভী,স্বর্ণহার, অশ্বতর-চালিত এক রথ সহিত আসিয়া ,,
জনশ্রুতি কহেন রৈখ্বারে এ সকল তব তরে ,
কোন দেবতা পুজেন আপনি জানান দয়া করে !!

কহেন রৈখ্বা "শোনো শুদ্র ফিরায়ে লও এ উপঢৌকন" ,
বিমর্ষ রাজা তত্পরে গৃহে করিয়া গমন ,,
আনিলেন নিজ পুত্রী ফের  সকল উপহার সাথে ,
ছয়শত গাভী বদলাইলেন এক সহশ্রেতে !!

কহিলেন জনশ্রুতি এবার রৈখ্বারে :
"দয়া করে জ্ঞান দান করুন আমারে !!
আনিয়াছি এ সকল এই রাজকন্যা সাথে,
সঙ্গে এই  গ্রামখানি সোপিনু তব হাথে  !! "

রাজকুমারী জ্ঞান-মাধ্যম এমত মানিয়া,
কহিলেন রৈখ্বা এবার রাজারে ডাকিয়া||
"শোনো শুদ্র এ কন্যাখানি হইলো জ্ঞানের-দ্বার !!
লইয়া এ দক্ষিনা দিব মম জ্ঞান তোমারে এবার..."

'মহাব্রিশা' দেশখানিতে যত গ্রাম ছিল ,
জনশ্রুতি সে সকল গ্রাম দক্ষিনাতে দিল||
'রৈখ্বাপর্ণ' নামে সে অঞ্চল হয় পরিচিত,,
নিবাসিলেন সেথা রৈখ্বা - রাজারে দিয়া যা ছিল তাঁর জ্ঞাত !!

On hearing this, Janasruti Pautrayana took with him six hundred cows, a gold necklace, and a chariot drawn by mules and went to Raikva and addressed him 'O Raikva, (here are for you) these six hundred cows, this gold necklace, and this chariot drawn by mules. Now, revered sir, instruct me about the deity whom you worship.'
The other man answered him thus: "O Sudra, let this gold necklace together with the chariot and the cows remain with you."
Janasruti Pautrayana again took with him one thousand cows, a gold necklace, a chariot drawn by mules and his daughter and went over to Raikva and said to him- "O Raikva, (here are for you) these one thousand cows, this gold necklace, this chariot drawn by mules, this wife, and this village in which you reside. Now, revered sir, please instruct me" .Taking that princess to be the portal for the conveying of knowledge, Raikva said, "O Sudra, you have brought all these! Even by this means (the princess) you will make me talk."
The king then gave away to him all those villages in the 'Mahavrisa' country known as 'Raikvaparna' where Raikva lived. Raikhva said to the king then.....
