(30) *Kobitay Chandogya Upanishad* (Part 4, Ch 8, 9 )

॥ चतुर्थोऽध्यायः ॥

॥ अष्टमः खण्डः ॥

मद्गुष्टे पादं वक्तेति स ह श्वोभूते गा अभिप्रस्थापयाञ्चकार ता यत्राभिसायं बभूवुस्तत्राग्निमुपसमाधाय गा उपरुध्य समिधमाधाय पश्चादग्नेः प्राङुपोपविवेश ॥ १ ॥
तं मद्गुरुपनिपत्याभ्युवाद सत्यकाम३ इति भगव इति ह प्रतिशुश्राव ॥ २ ॥
ब्रह्मणः सोम्य ते पादं ब्रवाणीति ब्रवीतु मे भगवानिति तस्मै होवाच प्राणः कला चक्षुः कला श्रोत्रं कला मनः कलैष वै सोम्य चतुष्कलः पादो ब्रह्मण आयतनवान्नाम ॥ ३ ॥
स यै एतमेवं विद्वाँश्चतुष्कलं पादं ब्रह्मण आयतनवानित्युपास्त आयतनवानस्मिँल्लोके भवत्यायतनवतो ह लोकाञ्जयति य एतमेवं विद्वाँश्चतुष्कलं पादं ब्रह्मण आयतनवानित्युपास्ते ॥ ४ ॥

प्राप हाचर्यकुलं तमाचर्योऽभ्युवाद सत्यकाम३ इति भगव इति ह प्रतिशुश्राव ॥ १ ॥
ब्रह्मविदिव वै सोम्य भासि को नु त्वानुशशासेत्यन्ये मनुष्येभ्य इति ह प्रतिजज्ञे भगवाँस्त्वेव मे कामे ब्रूयात् ॥ २ ॥
श्रुतँह्येव मे भगवद्दृशेभ्य आचार्याद्धैव विद्या विदिता साधिष्ठं प्रापतीति तस्मै हैतदेवोवाचात्र ह न किञ्चन वीयायेति वीयायेति ॥ ३ ॥

এরপর হংস কয় সত্যকামেরে ফের ডাকি ,
আরেক পদ ব্রাহ্মণের কহিবে ডুবুরি-পাখি !!

এ শুনিয়া পরদিন সহস্রগাভী সাথে      ,,
সত্যকাম চলিল গুরুগৃহ অভিমুখী পথে ..... 

দিবাশেষে গাভিগনে খুঁটিতে বাঁধিয়া       ,,
অগ্নিপশ্চাতে  আসনপরি -ইন্ধন অগ্নিকুন্ডে দিয়া , 

বসেন সত্যকাম পূর্বদিক মুখ করি ,
এক ডুবুরি পাখি আসি ডাকে 'সত্যকাম ' কহি !!

"আজ্ঞা প্রভু " উত্তর দেন এ বলি সত্যকাম ,
কহে পাখি অপর পদ,  'আয়তনবাত' যার নাম !!

প্রান -চক্ষু -কর্ণ -মনে হয় তাহা বিস্তৃত ,
এ পদে ধ্যান ধরিলে হবে আশ্রয়কেন্দ্র-স্থিত ||

এ চারি ভাগে পদ জানিয়া যিনি ধরেন এতে ধ্যান -
'আয়তনবাত ' বলে আশ্রয় জয় করেন সেই মহান !!

পৌঁছিলেন সত্যকাম এবার শিক্ষকগৃহে ,
গৌতম মুনি দেখি তারে কহেন সস্নেহে ,,

মুখের আভা এমত কয় জানিয়াছ ব্রহ্মজ্ঞান ,
বল কে সে যে তোমারে দিয়াছে আত্মজ্ঞান !!

কহে সত্যকাম মানব ছাড়া আর সবে ,
এ জ্ঞান কহিয়াছে এবার আপনারেও বলিতে হবে !!

শুনিয়াছি আচার্যমুখ নিঃসৃত জ্ঞান ,
সর্ব্বপরি -- আর কোনো জ্ঞান নয় তার সমান !!

কৃপা করি এই শ্রীমুখে শুনাইলে  আপনি ,,
শিক্ষা মোর পূর্ণ হবে কেবল তখনি !!

গুরু এবার শুনাইলেন তাহা নিজ-মত করি ,,
দিলেন সত্যকামে জ্ঞানে পরিপূর্ণ করি ♡

Chapter 8

(Instruction by the Diver-Bird )

The swan further said: "A madgu (diver-bird) will declare to you another foot."
Satyakama then, when it was the morrow, drove the cows in the direction of the teacher’s house. And when they came together toward evening, he lighted a fire, penned the cows, laid fuel on the fire and sat down behind the fire, facing the east.

Then a diver-bird flew to him and said: "Satyakama!"
"Revered Sir!" Satyakama replied.

"Dear friend, I will declare to you one foot of Brahman."
"Declare it, revered Sir.
The diver-bird said to him: "The prana is one quarter, the eye is one quarter, the ear is one quarter, the mind is one quarter. This, dear friend, is one foot of Brahman, consisting of four quarters and this foot is called Ayatanavat (having support)

He who knows this and meditates on the foot of Brahman consisting of four quarters as 'Ayatanavat', possesses a support (i.e. home) on this earth. He conquers the worlds which offer a home-he who knows this and meditates on the foot of Brahman consisting of four quarters as Ayatanavat."

( Instruction by the Teacher )
Satyakama reached the teacher’s house. The teacher said to him: "Satyakama!"
"Revered Sir!" Satyakama replied.

The teacher said: "Dear friend, you shine like one who knows Brahman. Who has taught you?"
"Others than men," he replied.....But I wish, revered Sir, that you alone should teach me."

"For I have heard from persons like your good self that only knowledge which is learnt from a teacher (acharya) leads to the highest good."

Then he (Gautama) taught him the same knowledge. Nothing whatsoever was left out, yea, nothing whatsoever was left out.....
