॥ द्वादशः खण्डः ॥

अथातः शौव उद्गीथस्तद्ध बको दाल्भ्यो ग्लावो वा मैत्रेयः स्वाध्यायमुद्वव्राज ॥ १ ॥

तस्मै श्वा श्वेतः प्रादुर्बभूव तमन्ये श्वान उपसमेत्योचुरन्नं नो भगवानागायत्वशनायाम वा इति ॥ २ ॥

तान्होवाचेहैव मा प्रातरुपसमीयातेति तद्ध बको दाल्भ्यो ग्लावो वा मैत्रेयः प्रतिपालयाञ्चकार ॥ ३ ॥

ते ह यथैवेदं बहिष्पवमानेन स्तोष्यमाणाः सँरब्धाः सर्पन्तीत्येवमाससृपुस्ते ह समुपविश्य हिं चक्रुः ॥ ४ ॥

ओ३मदा३मों३पिबा३मों३ देवो वरुणः प्रजापतिः सविता३न्नमिहा२हरदन्नपते३ऽन्नमिहा२हरा२हरो३मिति ॥ ५ ॥

Erpor dekho Sarmeya-kul Udgith dekhe kemone,
Ekoda Dalbhya Baka aar jaare loke
Maitreya Glava bole jaane,
Gelo tara bahire sikhite veder paath,
Eso dekhi kemone udghatilo Saromeye ved-paath...

saathe taar anek sathi,,
Bole tara sei swet-nayake tader
mora khudhartho oti...
Ene daao aaj khadhyo amader
geye tomar se gaan,
tumi-e moder ek bhorosa bachao se sonmaan...

Sei saramey kohe annyo tahar sathigoney,
Pribhate ese melo amar sathe tthick eikhaane...
Dui vedpaathi dekhe chupchap setha tader aasa,
Kikorey se gaan, gahibe sarameyo
se tader jiggasa...

Bahispavamana gahite jemone purohitgon hathe hath dhore choley,,
Sarmeyodol setha temone asiya bosiya 'Him'-kaar kore...

Om,Surjodev,Varuna, Prajapati,Savitir ahaarjo den jeno...
He Anner dev surjo ekhane asiya khuddha metan amader,,
Anno aniya tini bachan je praan ei abhuktoder..."

[ Once two pupil named Dalbhya Baka n Maitreya Glava went outskirts of their village to learn Veda practically. They got to see a white dog and his followers. Those dogs were urging their leader to pray n to bring food fr them by singing..The white dog then asked the other dogs to come right there in the morning together.
Both the pupil were astonished seeing this n they waited to see what would happen. Next morning as ppl sing 'bahispavamana' holding n moving one another's hand together in a group, the dogs too came n sat there chanting together. They were asking frm Sun God and other demigods offering prayer and with 'Om'.
First they all chanted 'Him' together, then they said- " *Om* we might get food n drink as we are hungry.
Sun God, Varuna, Prajapati, Savitir may bring food fr us. The God of food may appear here with food fr us. Om." ]

अयं वाव लोको हाउकारः वायुर्हारकारश्चन्द्रमा अथकार आत्मेहकारोऽग्निरीकारः ॥ १ ॥

आदित्य ऊकारो निहव एकारो विश्वे देवा औहोयिकारः प्रजापतिर्हिङ्कारः प्राणः स्वरोऽन्नं या वाग्विराट् ॥ २ ॥

अनिरुक्तस्त्रयोदशः स्तोभः सञ्चरो हुङ्कारः ॥ ३ ॥

दुग्धेऽस्मै वाग्दोहं यो वाचो दोहोऽन्नवानन्नादो भवति य एतामेवँसाम्नामुपनिषदं वेदोपनिषदं वेदेति ॥ ४ ॥

Ei akshar-saar vidhya ropto korechen jini....

[ This Earth is verily 'hau' ,the air is 'hai' ,the moon is 'atha', the self is the syllable iha; the fire is 'i'.
The sun is the syllable 'u',the invocation is 'e',the Visve-devas are the syllable 'au—ho—i' Prajapati is the syllable 'him',the prana the syllable'svara', food is  'ya',Virat is 'vak' and indefinable is the thirteenth stobha, namely, the variable syllable 'hum'.
He,who knows this secret knowledge of the Samans,his speech yields milk and milk is speech. He becomes the possessor and the eater of food—he who knows this.... ]

मटचीहतेषु कुरुष्वाटिक्या सह जाययोषस्तिर्ह चाक्रायण इभ्यग्रामे प्रद्राणक उवास ॥ १ ॥
स हेभ्यं कुल्माषान्खादन्तं बिभिक्षे तँ होवाच । नेतोऽन्ये विद्यन्ते यच्च ये म इम उपनिहिता इति ॥ २ ॥
एतेषां मे देहीति होवाच तानस्मै प्रददौ हन्तानुपानमित्युच्छिष्टं वै मे पीतँस्यादिति होवाच ॥ ३ ॥
न स्विदेतेऽप्युच्छिष्टा इति न वा अजीविष्यमिमा न खादन्निति होवाच कामो म उदपानमिति ॥ ४ ॥
स ह खादित्वातिशेषाञ्जायाया आजहार साग्र एव सुभिक्षा बभूव तान्प्रतिगृह्य निदधौ ॥ ५ ॥
स ह प्रातः सञ्जिहान उवाच यद्बतान्नस्य लभेमहि लभेमहि धनमात्राँराजासौ यक्ष्यते स मा सर्वैरार्त्विज्यैर्वृणीतेति ॥ ६ ॥
तं जायोवाच हन्त पत इम एव कुल्माषा इति तान्खादित्वामुं यज्ञं विततमेयाय ॥ ७ ॥
तत्रोद्गातॄनास्तावे स्तोष्यमाणानुपोपविवेश स ह प्रस्तोतारमुवाच ॥ ८ ॥
प्रस्तोतर्या देवता प्रस्तावमन्वायत्ता तां चेदविद्वान्प्रस्तोष्यसि मूर्धा ते विपतिष्यतीति ॥ ९ ॥
एवमेवोद्गातारमुवाचोद्गातर्या देवतोद्गीथमन्वायत्ता तां चेदविद्वानुद्गास्यसि मूर्धा ते विपतिष्यतीति ॥ १० ॥
एवमेव प्रतिहर्तारमुवाच प्रतिहर्तर्या देवता प्रतिहारमन्वायत्ता तां चेदविद्वान्प्रतिहरिष्यसि मूर्धा ते विपतिष्यतीति ते ह समारतास्तूष्णीमासांचक्रिरे ॥ ११ ॥

[ Here is a story , of Chakra's Son Usasti - Who lived in a village with his wife. Their condition was diplorable as the crops in the Kuru Country had been destroyed by hailstroms.
He was begging fr alms, to an elephant driver , who said 'i hav no other food than what is d leftover in front of me". He has taken that, but refused to take water frm him saying that would be delified. When asked what is the reason then accepting the food, he replied "Option is there fr me fr taking or not taking the water. but without this food, i can not servive.
Then he took some frm it and brought the left fr his wife. His wife kept them as she already had got some alms n consumed them.
Next day she offered her husband what he brought fr her as she stored it, and usasti decided instead of begging food he should go there where a king is organising sacrifice and he might get a good chance to hav the appointment as prime prist there.
He went, Sat among the priests and kept on saying one after another priests --> Prastotir (who offers prastava) ,Udgatir (who sings udgita) , n to Pratihartir (who performs pratihara) --- " your head shall fall down if without knowing the deity fr whom you are offering this sacrifice yu perform. " Listening this all priests stopped their duties.]

अथ हैनं यजमान उवाच भगवन्तं वा अहं विविदिषाणीत्युषस्तिरस्मि चाक्रायण इति होवाच ॥ १ ॥
स होवाच भगवन्तं वा अहमेभिः सर्वैरार्त्विज्यैः पर्यैषिषं भगवतो वा अहमवित्त्यान्यानवृषि ॥ २ ॥
भगवाँस्त्वेव मे सर्वैरार्त्विज्यैरिति तथेत्यथ तर्ह्येत एव समतिसृष्टाः स्तुवतां यावत्त्वेभ्यो धनं दद्यास्तावन्मम दद्या इति तथेति ह यजमान उवाच ॥ ३ ॥
अथ हैनं प्रस्तोतोपससाद प्रस्तोतर्या देवता प्रस्तावमन्वायत्ता तां चेदविद्वान्प्रस्तोष्यसि मूर्धा ते विपतिष्यतीति मा भगवानवोचत्कतमा सा देवतेति ॥ ४ ॥
प्राण इति होवाच सर्वाणि ह वा इमानि भूतानि प्राणमेवाभिसंविशन्ति प्राणमभ्युज्जिहते सैषा देवता प्रस्तावमन्वायत्ता तां चेदविद्वान्प्रास्तोष्यो मूर्धा ते व्यपतिष्यत्तथोक्तस्य मयेति ॥ ५ ॥
अथ हैनमुद्गातोपससादोद्गातर्या देवतोद्गीथमन्वायत्ता तां चेदविद्वानुद्गास्यसि मूर्धा ते विपतिष्यतीति मा भगवानवोचत्कतमा सा देवतेति ॥ ६ ॥
आदित्य इति होवाच सर्वाणि ह वा इमानि भूतान्यादित्यमुच्चैः सन्तं गायन्ति सैषा देवतोद्गीथमन्वायत्ता तां चेदविद्वानुदगास्यो मूर्धा ते व्यपतिष्यत्तथोक्तस्य मयेति ॥ ७ ॥
अथ हैनं प्रतिहर्तोपससाद प्रतिहर्तर्या देवता प्रतिहारमन्वायत्ता तां चेदविद्वान्प्रतिहरिष्यसि मूर्धा ते विपतिष्यतीति मा भगवानवोचत्कतमा सा देवतेति ॥ ८ ॥
अन्नमिति होवाच सर्वाणि ह वा इमानि भूतन्यन्नमेव प्रतिहरमाणानि जीवन्ति सैषा देवता प्रतिहारमन्वायत्ता तां चेदविद्वान्प्रत्यहरिष्यो मूर्धा ते व्यपतिष्यत्तथोक्तस्य मयेति तथोक्तस्य मयेति ॥ ९ ॥

sochol nishol sobakar praan-e aharje beche thakey,,
Taare na janiya jodi protihara gahite aaj tumi,
matha chole jeto jemon barone kohiyachilam ami.....

[ The Principal priest asked who is he and after knowing who he was, the principal priest said he was already in search fr Him : to appoint him for all priestly offices, but he was compelled to appoint others as he couldnot find Him.
He replied " no problem . if they are appointed they can perform their duties under my observation,, but yu hav to offer me the same wealth what yu hav given to them" and the sacrificer agreed.
N then one after another the Priests approached Him to tell them who are their deities.
Answering Prastotir,Udgatir and Pratihartir he said " 'Prana' is the deity that belongs to Prastava, 'Sun' is the deity that belongs to udgita and 'Food' is the deity who belongs to pratihara. For all the movable n immovable rise out n merged into the prana alone, All movable n immovable sings in praise of the Sun , and all live by partaking of food only. So if yu would do sacrifice without knowing the Deity to whom should yu offer your service,your heads would hav been fallen down."]

॥ अष्टमः खण्डः ॥

त्रयो होद्गीथे कुशला बभूवुः शिलकः शालावत्यश्चैकितायनो दाल्भ्यः प्रवाहणो जैवलिरिति ते होचुरुद्गीथे वै कुशलाः स्मो हन्तोद्गीथे कथां वदाम इति ॥ १ ॥

तथेति ह समुपविविशुः स ह प्रावहणो जैवलिरुवाच भगवन्तावग्रे वदतां ब्राह्मणयोर्वदतोर्वाचँश्रोष्यामीति ॥ २ ॥

स ह शिलकः शालावत्यश्चैकितायनं दाल्भ्यमुवाच हन्त त्वा पृच्छानीति पृच्छेति होवाच ॥ ३ ॥

का साम्नो गतिरिति स्वर इति होवाच स्वरस्य का गतिरिति प्राण इति होवाच प्राणस्य का गतिरित्यन्नमिति होवाचान्नस्य का गतिरित्याप इति होवाच ॥ ४ ॥

अपां का गतिरित्यसौ लोक इति होवाचामुष्य लोकस्य का गतिरिति न स्वर्गं लोकमिति नयेदिति होवाच स्वर्गं वयं लोकँसामाभिसंस्थापयामः स्वर्गसँस्तावँहि सामेति ॥ ५ ॥

तँ ह शिलकः शालावत्यश्चैकितायनं दाल्भ्यमुवाचाप्रतिष्ठितं वै किल ते दाल्भ्य साम यस्त्वेतर्हि ब्रूयान्मूर्धा ते विपतिष्यतीति मूर्धा ते विपतेदिति ॥ ६ ॥

हन्ताहमेतद्भगवतो वेदानीति विद्धीति होवाचामुष्य लोकस्य का गतिरित्ययं लोक इति होवाचास्य लोकस्य का गतिरिति न प्रतिष्ठां लोकमिति नयेदिति होवाच प्रतिष्ठां वयं लोकँसामाभिसँस्थापयामः प्रतिष्ठासँस्तावँ हि सामेति ॥ ७ ॥

तँ ह प्रवाहणो जैवलिरुवाचान्तवद्वै किल ते शालावत्य साम यस्त्वेतर्हि ब्रूयान्मूर्धा ते विपतिष्यतीति मूर्धा ते विपतेदिति हन्ताहमेतद्भगवतो वेदानीति विद्धीति होवाच ॥ ८ ॥

Pravahana Jaivali ebar kohen Silakay,
'O Salavatya, tomar Sam asole tomar gotiurdhe dhaay...

Tokhon nijobhul bujhe Silaka Jaivali re koy,
He pravahana amay se saar sikhao nishchoy...
Prabahana Jaivali kohen Salavatya Silakare,
Ebar Sam poridhi Sam dhyam janabo tomare...

[ Three udgatri prists of that time name Chaikitayana Dalbhya, Silaka Salavata and Pravahana Jaivali once decided to go fr a discussion on Saman (Udgitha).
They Questioned one another turnwise. First Caikitanya Dalbhyas turn came to answer Silaka and he answered -
"Tune is the essence of Saman,
Essence of tune is Prana,
Essence of Prana is Food,
Essence of food is water,
Essence of water is 'Akasha' "
n then on asking what is essence of Akasa (heaven) he couldnot answer properly saying we cannot take saman above it.

Then the turn was of of Silaka Salavata to answer Dalbhya And he stated ''Its the earth only where Sanam is praised so further to heaven again this is sung here on earth. But he too was not correct with his concept of Saman. ]

॥ नवमः खण्डः ॥ 
------------------

अस्य लोकस्य का गतिरित्याकाश इति होवाच सर्वाणि ह वा इमानि भूतान्याकाशादेव समुत्पद्यन्त आकाशं प्रत्यस्तं यन्त्याकाशो ह्येवैभ्यो ज्यायानकाशः परायणम् ॥ १ ॥

स एष परोवरीयानुद्गीथः स एषोऽनन्तः परोवरीयो हास्य भवति परोवरीयसो ह लोकाञ्जयति य एतदेवं विद्वान्परोवरीयाँसमुद्गीथमुपास्ते ॥ २ ॥

तँ हैतमतिधन्वा शौनक उदरशाण्डिल्यायोक्त्वोवाच यावत्त एनं प्रजायामुद्गीथं वेदिष्यन्ते परोवरीयो हैभ्यस्तावदस्मिँल्लोके जीवनं भविष्यति ॥ ३ ॥

तथामुष्मिँल्लोके लोक इति स य एतमेवं विद्वानुपास्ते परोवरीय एव हास्यास्मिँल्लोके जीवनं भवति तथामुष्मिँल्लोके लोक इति लोके लोक इति ॥ ४ ॥

[ Now, Replying the question 'What is the essence of this world?' Pravahanna said 'Akasa'. As everything arise from that alone and are finally dissolved into that Akasa. Akasa alone is greater than all these and Akasa supports all of these. Udgitha could be progressively higher and better...it is endless.Knowing this, who meditates upon the progressively higher and better Saman -obtains progressively higher and better lives and wins progressively higher and better worlds....
Once Atidhanvan (the son of Sunaka) taught this to Udarasandilya. He said,among your descendants, as long as this Udgitha Knowledge continues, so long their life in this world will be progressively higher and better than ordinary lives and in that world too their state will be similar. So knowing this who will meditate upon this - his life in this world and that world shall surely becomes progressively higher and better. ]

[ Here is the description of that luminous person whom we see in the sun and He whom we hold in the heart as Brahman.
Udgatri in His 'Saman' sings fr them both. The deity and the Supreme. He is a blesser indeed. He has got right to sing 'saman' at the time of performing Hotra and fulfill the desire of the ppl through the person in His eye. As He gets the worlds that are extended below this person, and also the desired objects of men.
Therefore the Udgatir priest who knows thus should ask the sacrificer ''What desire shall I obtain for you by singing the Saman?'' As he alone becomes capable of obtaining desires by singing , who knowing thus sings the 'Saman' ]

* satyam param dhimahi ।। সত্যম্ পরম ধিমহী ।।

তার সে সত্য পরম সত্য, যে সত্যে ধরেছে ধ্যান ,,

সত্য আপন , আপন-ই ঈশ, আপনিই ভগবান  ।।  

আমাদের জীবন কেবলি আপস , প্রতিপদে মিথ্যাচার , 

কি বলে বা সত্য আসে হৃদয়ে তাহার ??  

সত্য কহ ,সত্য চিন্ত , সত্যে ধর প্রান ,, 

এ জীবন তোমার ধন্য হবে , হবে সৎ মহান ।। 


কেউ বা জীবনে প্রভুর দাস ,তাই তার কাছে সত্য ,, 

তাকিয়া দেখো নিজ অন্তরে নিরাকার একই সত্য ।। 

কেবা প্রভু বলো কেবা যে ভৃত্য -আছে দাসত্ব অন্তরে , 

সেই অন্তার্মায়া কাটলে হৃদয়ে আপনারই প্রভু হবে ।। 

প্রভু শব্দেও আসে প্রবণতা ,  

জগত শাসনে সে সবাকার পিতা ,,

না দাসত্ব না মিথ্যা তে আপোষ , 

হও সত্য রেনু হই ও না পাপোষ , 

সত্য সবাকার, সে সত্যে অধিকার ,, 

 জেনো সে সত্য যা  তোমার আমার ।। 

চাহি দেখো আজ আপন অন্তরে  

সে সত্যের বিনা বাজে কিনা ।। 

সবার অন্তরে দেখিয়া নিজেরে - 

এক সে সত্য ভালোবাসিতে পার কিনা !!  



Truth is one's own truth-
who holds dhyana in the Truth alone,
Truth is His Love,
Truth is His God,
Truth is the One , that One's own...

Every step is compromise in our life,
Every word is a false covering on our mind ,,
How then the heart could be the abode of Truth alone ??

Speak only truth, thinking of truth alone shall make one's life praiseworthy....

For some, they are the servant of God, But who is God and Who thy are ? The concept of serving someone veils d self as the highest illusion... Has God asked you ever to serve Him ?  

The words servant and husband lies in the illusory sky of one's own mind . This whole creation is based upon the principle of beingless being. We gift it a word 'God'.

See in eyes of any and see if yu can see : if you could able to find the seer somewhere within then n there, just a milimicron of it, a glimpse : that's thy God's Particle within this body..  

but a question -without a mirror hav yu could ever seen your own face ? How the seer could be seen ? if there remains noone except that one seer within : no urge to know the seer remains. Then the small drop become the ocean.

(here is the explanation in this very chapter why Om should be *meditated* upon with the example of gods and the fear of death. Gods ,being afraid of death wished to hide frm d death first. They cover themselves with the hymns. * As hymns are Chhanda and God covered themselves with the chhandas, the metrical hyms as 'achhadan'. But only hiding themselves were not enough. As fish could be seen by the fisherman in shallow water, death observed them. In rik, yajur, n in sam. Gods came to know this and then they entered into the Svara alone. In rik sam n yajur ppl too do utter Om loudly in the same way to become fearless, but the Svara Om which is immortal and fearless can finally remove the fear of death frm ones heart...)

Kaushitaki , the mother said her son, " i hav meditated n sang the song knowing the Sun as Prime Prana only - so yu are my only son....Know though the Sun is not different frm his rays, but his rays only as diff pranas in our body helps rectifies our funtions...Know this truth that the rising sun alone is the bliss-udgeeth and he himself via his rays sings the Omkara as he moves...so meditate on sun as prana n sub-pranas n yu would get results- get many sons...)

अथ खलु व्यानमेवोद्गीथमुपासीत यद्वै प्राणिति स प्राणो यदपानिति सोऽपानः । अथ यः प्राणापानयोः सन्धिः स व्यानो यो व्यानः सा वाक् । तस्मादप्राणन्ननपानन्वाचमभिव्याहरति ॥ ३ ॥

या वाक्सर्क्तस्मादप्राणन्ननपानन्नृचमभिव्याहर
यर्क्तत्साम तस्मादप्राणन्ननपानन्साम गायति यत्साम स उद्गीथस्तस्मादप्राणन्ननपानन्नुद्गायति ॥ ४ ॥

अतो यान्यन्यानि वीर्यवन्ति कर्माणि यथाग्नेर्मन्थनमाजेः सरणं दृढस्य धनुष आयमनमप्राणन्ननपानँस्तानि करोत्येतस्य हेतोर्व्यानमेवोद्गीथमुपासीत ॥ ५ ॥

अथ खलूद्गीथाक्षराण्युपासीतोद्गीथ इति प्राण एवोत्प्राणेन ह्युत्तिष्ठति वाग्गीर्वाचो ह गिर इत्याचक्षतेऽन्नं थमन्ने हीदँसर्वँस्थितम् ॥ ६ ॥

द्यौरेवोदन्तरिक्षं गीः पृथिवी थमादित्य एवोद्वायुर्गीरग्निस्थँसामवेद एवोद्यजुर्वेदो गीर्ऋग्वेदस्थं दुग्धेऽस्मै वाग्दोहं यो वाचो दोहोऽन्नवानन्नादो भवति य एतान्येवं विद्वानुद्गीथाक्षराण्युपास्त उद्गीथ इति ॥ ७ ॥

 अथ खल्वाशीःसमृद्धिरुपसरणानीत्युपासीत येन साम्ना स्तोष्यन्स्यात्तत्सामोपधावेत् ॥ ८ ॥

यस्यामृचि तामृचं यदार्षेयं तमृषिं यां देवतामभिष्टोष्यन्स्यात्तां देवतामुपधावेत् ॥ ९ ॥

येन च्छन्दसा स्तोष्यन्स्यात्तच्छन्द उपधावेद्येन स्तोमेन स्तोष्यमाणः स्यात्तँस्तोममुपधावेत् ॥ १० ॥

यां दिशमभिष्टोष्यन्स्यात्तां दिशमुपधावेत् ॥ ११ ॥

'Vyana' is one of the prana, its the energy which radiates frm the centre of our body upto the periphery. So when we meditate udgita i.e. Om as 'Vyana'....spreading positivity the 'yes' mind expands further *as vyana's nature is expansion * .

Like Archery, Racing and many works which needs concentration,, with holding mind on this vyana we get that inner power n positivity to win...vyana is that energy. During chanting or meditating it is the form of 'vak' - speech which is 'rik' and during the time of speaking or uttering or chanting or singing we know that we neither inhale nor exhale..

Sun radiates . It is the source of warmth. The basic source of pure form of energy. We meditate udgita upon sun,which radiates positivity.

As in previous chapter we hav discussed about the 'yes' effect of udgith- Om,, so this explanation helps us further how to fulfill our desire i.e.sankalpa.
so, in this chapter it is said fr the udgatri priests who sings the song in praise - how to hold d mind on dik, beats, tune, hymn, rishis on whom it was revealed,]
